Responsibilities
- Design, build, deploy, operate, and support services with end-to-end ownership of a banking domain.
- Develop and operate distributed, event-driven, headless, API-first backend systems in production.
- Design clear boundaries around complex banking domains and keep API changes backward compatible.
- Understand, extend, and safely replace existing systems while assessing dependencies, risks, and proof of correctness.
- Own cloud infrastructure, infrastructure as code, CI/CD, and observability as part of the engineering role.
- Use AI to understand unfamiliar code, explore designs, generate and review implementations, and reduce routine work.
- Communicate technical reasoning clearly and challenge colleagues or clients respectfully when proposing better approaches.
Requirements
- Experience working across more than one programming language or platform and willingness to learn unfamiliar technologies.
- Production experience with distributed, event-driven backend systems where accuracy, reliability, and downtime have significant consequences.
- Strong systems-thinking skills, including understanding coupling, change impact, service boundaries, and inter-system communication.
- Ability to work effectively in codebases the candidate did not write and evaluate implementation quality critically.
- Experience owning software in production, including cloud, infrastructure as code, CI/CD, and observability.
- Ability to use AI deliberately by providing context, directing work across large codebases, and judging model output.
- Clear communication skills and the ability to explain trade-offs and propose improvements.
