Responsibilities
- Build, maintain, and scale backend services and Kafka-based streaming pipelines for user behavior data on AWS.
- Design microservices and APIs that expose user segments and behavioral models to classic and agentic product surfaces.
- Transform behavioral signals into segments and models used across the platform.
- Use and evaluate AI coding assistants and agents for code generation, review, troubleshooting, and workflow improvement.
- Participate in architectural discussions and make decisions on moderately scoped engineering problems.
- Build, deploy, roll back, and operate software, including active on-call participation.
- Automate manual operational processes and contribute to resilient, easy-to-operate systems.
- Provide constructive feedback and participate in engineering communities of practice.
Requirements
- Be fully proficient in Java and able to deliver small-to-medium features and bug fixes end-to-end with little or no assistance.
- Have experience building Kafka-based streaming pipelines and services in a production cloud environment using AWS.
- Understand distributed systems, concurrency, scaling, and asynchronous programming techniques such as streams, event-based flows, task queues, and message queues.
- Have active experience using AI coding assistants and agents in daily engineering work.
- Work collaboratively with shared decision-making and code ownership.
- Be comfortable navigating ambiguity and aligning daily work with broader architectural direction.
- Have proficiency in English.
- Preferred qualifications include GraphQL and large-scale microservices experience, Kubernetes familiarity, distributed data processing, data modeling, agentic AI tooling, recommendation systems, open-source contributions, SQL performance tuning, and data visualization tools.
