Responsibilities
- Participate fully in squad ceremonies and define acceptance criteria with the Product Owner before each sprint.
- Own test architecture across unit, integration, contract, and end-to-end testing and identify coverage gaps.
- Lead performance and load testing, establish baselines, analyze throughput and concurrency limits, and surface risks.
- Own the squad's Definition of Done quality gate and perform the final internal quality check before releases.
- Develop and maintain production-standard automated test suites and triage complex test failures and regressions.
- Mentor QA Engineers within the squad and across the QA chapter.
- Represent the squad in the QA Guild and deputize for the QA Chapter Lead when needed.
- Lead a chapter-wide initiative such as contract testing, performance testing, tooling, or AI-assisted test generation.
Requirements
- At least 5 years of QA engineering experience in a software product environment.
- Demonstrated ownership of test strategy for a complex domain and technical leadership within a squad.
- Strong automation engineering skills using Java, Python, or JavaScript.
- Experience with REST API testing, contract testing, integration test design, HTTP semantics, and JSON schema validation.
- Experience designing and running performance and load tests and translating results into engineering actions.
- Experience working in Java-based backend environments and ability to read Java code and understand system architecture.
- Ability to work independently, mentor others, and represent QA practices beyond the immediate squad.
- Preferred experience in fintech, payments, or digital financial services.
- Preferred experience with Pact or equivalent contract-testing tools in a microservices environment.
- Preferred Android mobile testing experience using Espresso, Appium, or structured manual regression testing.
- Preferred experience mentoring QA Engineers, running training, or contributing to a QA chapter, guild, or community of practice.
- Familiarity with AI-assisted test generation, regression triage, and synthetic test data creation using LLMs.
