Responsibilities
- Design, build, and maintain enterprise-grade integrations and automations using Workato.
- Define integration standards, reusable patterns, and design guidelines for scalable and maintainable systems.
- Standardize recipe error handling, including retry logic, dead letter queues, compensating transactions, alerting, and logging.
- Optimize Workato recipes for performance and cost while minimizing unnecessary API consumption and job usage.
- Design secure authentication patterns and manage secrets according to least-privilege principles.
- Design enterprise integration architecture and lead technical discussions with architects and business stakeholders.
- Troubleshoot complex cross-system production issues and drive them to resolution.
- Improve integration and data documentation, using AI tools such as Copilot where appropriate.
- Evaluate Workato AI capabilities, including MCP, Workato Genies, and Agent Studio, for Five9’s automation strategy.
- Mentor integration engineers and help develop the team’s technical capabilities.
- Stay current with Workato platform updates, integration best practices, and AI-driven automation capabilities.
Requirements
- At least five years of hands-on integration experience.
- Workato certification, such as Workato Automation Pro or higher, is required.
- Strong hands-on experience with REST APIs, including HTTP methods, authentication, pagination, rate limits, webhooks, and JSON payloads.
- Experience designing reusable and versioned APIs and maintainable integrations.
- Strong knowledge of authentication and security practices including OAuth 2.0, JWT, API keys, Basic Auth, SAML, certificates, secret management, encryption, and least-privilege access.
- Proficiency with JSON and XML parsing, transformation, and mapping of complex payloads.
- Experience with data transformation, mapping, filtering, aggregation, cleansing, deduplication, and schema conversion.
- Working knowledge of SQL, database querying, troubleshooting, and relational data models.
- Experience implementing robust error handling, retry logic, dead letter queues, compensating transactions, alerts, logging, and graceful failure handling.
- Understanding of event-driven architecture, webhooks, event streams, asynchronous processing, and message-based integrations.
- Familiarity with request/response, publish/subscribe, polling, batch processing, ETL, orchestration, and choreography patterns.
- Experience with or strong interest in Salesforce, NetSuite, GCP, UKG, Deel, Ramp, Jira, Freshservice, and Coupa is preferred.
- Familiarity with Workato’s MCP, Workato Genies, and Agent Studio is preferred.
- Experience with version control, CI/CD practices, and monitoring and observability tooling is preferred.
- Awareness of data privacy and compliance considerations such as GDPR and SOC 2 is preferred.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, communication, technical-discussion, mentoring, independent-working, and collaboration skills are required.
