Responsibilities
- Design, evolve, implement, and support MUFG’s enterprise integration platform across data centers and cloud providers.
- Build and operate secure, scalable enterprise API platforms using AWS API Gateway and related AWS integration services.
- Implement API lifecycle controls including throttling, quotas, rate limiting, access policies, WAF integration, and multi-environment promotion.
- Design API authentication, authorization, identity-provider integrations, backend integrations, and event-driven workflows.
- Automate platform provisioning and policy enforcement using infrastructure-as-code tools and CI/CD pipelines.
- Provide troubleshooting and operational escalation support for production issues and critical events.
- Implement observability, logging, telemetry, distributed tracing, performance testing, resiliency testing, disaster recovery, and capacity planning.
- Provide architecture guidance and technology recommendations for resilient, secure, compliant, and cost-effective API ecosystems.
- Train and mentor staff on AWS API Gateway, integration patterns, API security, observability, and platform engineering practices.
- Develop standard operating procedures, knowledge articles, and contributions to the automation roadmap and strategy.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a closely related discipline, or an equivalent combination of formal education and experience.
- At least 5 years of experience with large-scale, mission-critical, production-scale platforms at an enterprise or service provider.
- At least 5 years of hands-on experience designing, implementing, and operating AWS API Gateway-based enterprise API platforms.
- Deep expertise with AWS API Gateway, REST APIs, HTTP APIs, WebSocket APIs, custom domains, usage plans, stages, throttling, caching, and deployment strategies.
- Strong experience with AWS API architectures and services including Lambda, ECS/EKS, ALB/NLB, CloudWatch, X-Ray, S3, WAF, and networking and security constructs.
- Hands-on knowledge of IAM, Cognito, Lambda authorizers, OAuth2, JWT, mutual TLS, API threat protection, and secure API practices.
- Experience with API governance, data classification, secrets handling, API logging, telemetry, access policies, and sensitive-data management.
- Expertise in multi-account and multi-region AWS deployments, resiliency, failover, disaster recovery, and infrastructure standardization.
- Experience with CloudFormation, Terraform, CI/CD pipelines, OpenShift, Kubernetes, Docker, Java, Spring Boot, microservices, REST, SOAP, Postgres, Bitbucket, and Azure DevOps.
- Experience with AWS integration services such as Step Functions, EventBridge, SQS, and SNS.
- Experience integrating AWS APIs with enterprise identity and access platforms such as PingFederate and PingID.
- Experience with Dynatrace, Splunk, and AWS observability services; familiarity with WSO2 API Manager is a plus.
- AWS certifications in architecture, networking, or security are strongly preferred, and WSO2 certifications are desirable.
- Strong troubleshooting, analytical, communication, decision-making, teamwork, mentoring, and customer-service skills.
- Experience working in Scrum with the Atlassian stack, including Jira and Confluence, is preferred.

- Typical base pay is $112K-$137K annually, with possible discretionary performance-based bonus or incentive compensation.
