Principal Software Engineer, International Integrations
Toast, Inc.Responsibilities
- Architect, create, and maintain an AI harness for rapid partner integration and maintenance.
- Define and drive technical strategy for international expansion initiatives.
- Lead developers, product managers, designers, user researchers, and partner engineering teams in building scalable integration infrastructure.
- Design, write, review, test, deploy, and operate production software while incorporating customer feedback.
- Mentor developers across multiple teams through pair programming and code, architecture, and project reviews.
- Champion development, deployment, testing, and quality practices.
Requirements
- 10+ years of experience designing, building, and operating highly scalable, mission-critical distributed systems and SaaS products, ideally hosted on AWS.
- Proven experience leading complex technical initiatives and delivering robust software architecture from design through production.
- Strong enthusiasm for agentic development practices, LLM integration, and modern software paradigms.
- Ability to design high-level technical solutions while remaining connected to code-level execution and system performance.
- Ability to communicate complex technical ideas clearly to technical peers and product leadership.
- Experience building LLM- or autonomous-agent-powered development harnesses is preferred.
- Hands-on experience with Apache Camel, Apache Pulsar, or other enterprise integration and event-driven messaging systems is preferred.
- Experience establishing CI/CD, testing, and deployment strategies for complex systems is preferred.
- Knowledge of third-party system integrations or restaurant operations is preferred.
Benefits
- Base salary range of $169,000—$270,000 CAD, plus potential cash compensation, equity, and benefits.
- Remote position in Canada, with the East Coast preferred.
