Responsibilities
- Own the end-to-end reference architecture across application, data, AI/ML, and infrastructure layers.
- Make and document binding architectural decisions through RFCs, ADRs, design documents, and technical design reviews.
- Define engineering standards for APIs, infrastructure as code, security, observability, testing, and deployment safety.
- Write and review production-quality TypeScript and Python code to validate architectural decisions.
- Lead implementation of shared infrastructure modules, API frameworks, data pipeline foundations, and AI/ML integration layers.
- Architect S3-based lakehouse systems, event-driven streaming pipelines, data orchestration, and analytical query patterns.
- Define integration and reliability patterns for Bedrock agents, SageMaker endpoints, RAG pipelines, and agentic workflows.
- Troubleshoot distributed-system failures involving APIs, data pipelines, infrastructure, and LLM systems.
- Partner with engineering, product, program management, and executive leadership on technical tradeoffs and roadmaps.
- Mentor senior and lead engineers, conduct technical interviews, and promote documentation and knowledge transfer.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- 10+ years of software engineering experience, including at least 5 years as a hands-on architect or principal-level individual contributor on AWS-based platforms.
- Demonstrated ownership and accountability for full-platform architecture decisions in production.
- Deep hands-on experience with serverless-first AWS architecture, multi-account governance, and infrastructure as code using AWS CDK, CloudFormation, or Terraform.
- Experience designing S3-based lakehouse patterns, event-driven streaming pipelines, data governance, and analytics platforms.
- Production experience integrating Amazon Bedrock, SageMaker, or equivalent LLM/ML services, including RAG, agentic workflows, vector stores, and LLM reliability standards.
- Experience designing RESTful and GraphQL API contracts, frontend platform architecture, and monorepo tooling.
- Strong understanding of IAM, secrets management, encryption, network segmentation, distributed observability, SLAs, dashboards, and incident response.
- Strong written and verbal communication, influence without authority, and experience defining organization-wide engineering standards.
- Preferred qualifications include a master’s degree, financial-services experience, relevant AWS certifications, data mesh experience, responsible AI experience, CI/CD platform experience, open standards or open-source contributions, and GraphQL federation familiarity.
