Responsibilities
- Design domain models, bounded contexts, aggregate boundaries, and service architectures for card-network reference data.
- Build and maintain Java full-stack payment services using Spring Boot, JPA, PostgreSQL, Kafka, and OpenShift.
- Develop event-driven workflows, business rules integrations, routing, scheduled jobs, and schema migrations.
- Build independently deployable Next.js, React, and TypeScript micro-frontends and design their integration with a shared shell.
- Own OAuth2/OIDC identity architecture, including Okta integration, JWT validation, sessions, and revocation.
- Design and govern AWS IAM, S3, and CloudFront architecture across environments.
- Lead performance testing, profiling, load testing, bottleneck analysis, and scalability improvements.
- Drive test-driven development and continuous testing automation across unit, contract, integration, and end-to-end testing.
- Modernize and re-platform legacy services, support PCI data purging and lifecycle requirements, and participate in architecture and technical planning.
Requirements
- At least 5 years of professional software engineering experience, primarily with Java.
- Strong relational database experience with Oracle and/or PostgreSQL; PostgreSQL Aurora and Liquibase experience is preferred.
- Experience deploying and operating services in OpenShift, Kubernetes, or equivalent containerized environments.
- Experience with Spring Boot/JPA, business rules engines such as Drools, and integration frameworks such as Apache Camel.
- Working knowledge of Kafka or similar event-streaming platforms, including topic/schema design and producer/consumer reliability.
- Production experience applying domain-driven design and designing authorization and data-access controls.
- Experience governing cloud IAM, storage, and CDN architecture such as AWS IAM, S3, and CloudFront.
- Experience with Next.js, React, TypeScript, micro-frontends, OAuth2/OIDC, provider integration, token validation, and session/revocation design.
- At least one enterprise-level performance testing engagement and experience with profiling, load testing, and bottleneck resolution.
- Experience driving test-driven development and building continuous testing and automation pipelines.
- Digital payments, card processing, financial services technology, PCI compliance, or secure data handling experience is preferred.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work across large, matrixed programs with evolving requirements.
- PGLogical, PostgreSQL logical replication, GitHub Copilot or Claude, bank/card-network integrations, and segregated development environment experience are nice to have.
- A bachelor's degree is required, or qualifying specialized training and progressively responsible technology experience may substitute for missing college years.
