Base Salary
$150k - $190k/yr
Responsibilities
- Set the technical direction and architecture for Stretch’s perception systems.
- Own perception pipelines including object detection, tracking, and state estimation.
- Drive the development, maintenance, reliability, and performance of perception systems shipped on robots.
- Partner with controls, manipulation, software, hardware, and product teams to define requirements and integrate perception onto the robot.
- Champion robust testing, code reviews, first-principles problem solving, performance analysis, and real-time system design.
- Mentor junior engineers and provide technical leadership across the team.
Requirements
- 10+ years of industry experience building perception systems, or 8+ years with an MS, or 6+ years with a PhD.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Robotics, or a related field.
- Experience shipping software on-robot.
- Deep expertise in point cloud processing, tracking and filtering, state estimation, SLAM, sensor calibration, and perception algorithms.
- Track record of technical leadership, technical project ownership, direction-setting, and cross-team collaboration in robotics or a related domain.
- Strong C++ and Python skills in production environments.
- Experience diagnosing and improving system performance using real-world data.
- Preferred: experience with real-time or latency-constrained systems and edge compute.
- Preferred: background in warehouse, logistics, or manipulation applications.
- Preferred: practical experience with deep learning models for computer vision applications.
