Base Salary

$122k - $177k/yr

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, test, deploy, and maintain software applications for laboratory automation systems.
  • Program and integrate laboratory instruments, liquid handlers, robotic workcells, and peripheral devices.
  • Develop instrument control software, APIs, drivers, and workflow orchestration solutions.
  • Create automated data collection, processing, and reporting tools.
  • Collaborate with scientists, laboratory personnel, engineers, and vendors to translate requirements into automation solutions.
  • Troubleshoot hardware, software, and communication issues involving automated equipment.
  • Integrate laboratory automation platforms with LIMS, ELN, databases, and enterprise systems.
  • Develop technical documentation, user guides, and software validation records.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a listed technical field with at least 5 years of relevant experience, or a master’s degree with at least 3 years of relevant experience, or a PhD with at least 2 years of post-degree industry experience.
  • Candidates from other technical disciplines with demonstrated software development experience in the pharmaceutical or life sciences industry may also be considered.
  • Professional experience developing and deploying full-stack software solutions for laboratory automation platforms.
  • Proficiency in one or more of Python, C++, C#, Java, or JavaScript.
  • Hands-on experience with hardware and instrument integration, APIs, databases, network communications, REST APIs, cloud-based applications, and container orchestration platforms.
  • Knowledge of laboratory workflows in pharmaceutical, biotechnology, diagnostics, or life sciences environments.
  • Familiarity with laboratory informatics systems such as LIMS, ELN, SDMS, or similar platforms.
  • Preferred experience with Hamilton, Dynamic Devices, HighRes Biosolutions, Retisoft, or comparable laboratory automation integrators.
  • Preferred experience with SQL and NoSQL databases, Git-based version control, GxP or other regulated environments, and robotic automation technologies.
  • Strong problem-solving, troubleshooting, communication, and collaboration skills.
