Responsibilities

Design, build, and operate scalable, low-latency backend services for interactive and real-time dating experiences.
Lead the technical design and architecture of complex backend systems and integrations with core Tinder platforms.
Enable rapid experimentation, A/B testing, and feature launches while maintaining reliability.
Ensure service performance, reliability, and stability under real-world traffic.
Partner with Product, Design, Data, and iOS, Android, and web engineers to deliver features end to end.
Contribute to architecture, design and code reviews, testing, engineering best practices, and the pod’s technical direction.
Mentor fellow engineers and own features from design and implementation through deployment and operation.

At least 5 years of professional backend software development experience.
Experience designing and building low-latency, distributed backend systems at scale.
Proficiency with Java and/or Kotlin with Spring or WebFlux, or equivalent backend engineering experience.
Experience with relational and NoSQL databases, including RDB, Redis, or DynamoDB, and streaming or messaging systems such as Kafka.
Experience operating applications on Kubernetes and cloud infrastructure such as AWS, GCP, or Azure.
Strong backend architecture, technical judgment, code quality, and engineering-practice skills.
Ability to work autonomously, drive projects proactively, and lead and mentor within a team.
Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration skills across cultures and global time zones.
Ability to travel internationally without restriction.
Preferred qualifications include real-time or low-latency systems experience, high-scale data pipelines, experimentation platforms, 0-to-1 product development, legacy-code improvement, AI tools, and professional working proficiency in English.
A BS or MS in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field is preferred.

Hybrid role requiring in-office collaboration three times per week in Seoul.
