Responsibilities

  • Deliver features and architectural improvements for automated moderation pipelines, Reviewer tools, DevHub, and add-on submission flows.
  • Build and maintain Python/Django application systems with MySQL, React/TypeScript, and asynchronous processing.
  • Create internal developer platforms and paved paths that help teams safely develop, deploy, observe, and operate production services.
  • Improve CI/CD, infrastructure-as-code, testing, deployment, observability, monitoring, incident response, and platform reliability practices.
  • Establish engineering standards covering production readiness, runbooks, code review, recoverability, safe deployment, and on-call practices.
  • Debug complex production issues across frontend, backend, asynchronous jobs, data stores, and infrastructure.
  • Write design documents, Architecture Decision Records, runbooks, incident reports, and other technical documentation.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams and community contributors, provide peer feedback, and mentor engineers in operational and reliability practices.

Requirements

  • Strong hands-on experience building and maintaining production applications with Python and Django.
  • Experience operating and improving production software systems where reliability and safe delivery matter.
  • Strong experience with CI/CD systems, declarative pipelines, infrastructure-as-code, automated testing, integration testing, and staged or progressive delivery.
  • Strong understanding of observability, including metrics, logging, tracing, service-level objectives, and actionable alerting.
  • Experience building or maintaining internal tools or platforms used by engineering teams.
  • Experience improving engineering practices such as code review standards, operational readiness, runbooks, incident response, on-call expectations, and definitions of done.
  • Ability to understand unfamiliar codebases, trace application behavior across system layers, and turn production debugging findings into lasting improvements.
  • Strong technical writing, collaboration, communication, and mentoring skills in a distributed team environment.
  • Bonus qualifications include Google Cloud, Kubernetes, infrastructure-as-code and policy-as-code tooling, SLO and error-budget practices, chaos engineering, disaster recovery testing, production readiness reviews, trust and safety, automated moderation, abuse prevention, and open-source contributions.
