Base Salary
$174k - $220k/yr
Responsibilities
- Design, build, and operate services and developer tooling for publishing and consuming trusted data, including APIs, SDKs, generated types, validation tools, and contract workflows.
- Improve event-driven data paths using Kafka, Avro, and schema registries, including delivery semantics, compatibility rules, and safe schema evolution.
- Build reliable warehouse or lakehouse data activation and reverse ETL paths into products and operational systems with monitoring, lineage, and ownership.
- Implement data classification, deletion and masking workflows, access controls, audit trails, and policy enforcement.
- Write infrastructure as code, operate AWS platform services, and improve service-level indicators, alerts, dashboards, runbooks, and on-call response.
- Partner with internal users, document supported workflows, review designs and code, and help teams adopt shared systems.
Requirements
- 5+ years of professional software engineering experience, including meaningful backend, platform, developer infrastructure, or data-intensive systems work.
- Strong programming skills in Python, practical SQL experience, and experience with at least one statically typed language such as C#, Java, Kotlin, or TypeScript.
- Experience building APIs, SDKs, shared libraries, data contract systems, or event publishing frameworks used outside the immediate team.
- Understanding of schema design, versioning, validation, code generation, and migrations.
- Experience with distributed or event-driven systems, including delivery guarantees, idempotency, retries, ordering, dead-letter handling, and operational failure modes.
- Hands-on experience with Kafka or a comparable platform and a schema technology such as Avro, Protobuf, JSON Schema, or OpenAPI.
- Experience operating cloud services with automated testing, continuous delivery, observability, infrastructure as code, and incident response.
- Familiarity with warehouse or lakehouse platforms such as Snowflake, Databricks, or Iceberg.
- Preferred experience building software in regulated environments and working with PHI or PII controls including access, deletion, de-identification, lineage, and auditing.
