Responsibilities
- Build and maintain optimized, highly available database platforms.
- Continuously improve automated database deployment and configuration pipelines.
- Establish standards for highly available and fault-tolerant systems.
- Automate and streamline operational processes.
- Troubleshoot data issues and advise on data growth and maintenance.
- Plan and deliver database migrations and upgrades.
- Develop proofs of concept to support the UK IT Ops DBA team.
- Ensure systems are secure and compliant with requirements such as SOX and PCI.
- Provide supervisory and technical leadership to other engineers.
- Support TransUnion UK database platforms during UK business hours and through the out-of-hours DBA on-call rota.
- Consult with and support product delivery and development teams, including helping ensure solution operability.
Requirements
- At least five years of experience as a Senior SQL Server DBA using MS SQL Server 2014 or later.
- Enterprise experience supporting PostgreSQL.
- Advanced T-SQL experience, including stored procedures, SQL Agent Jobs, and deployment automation.
- Experience configuring and supporting high-availability and disaster-recovery technologies, including Mirroring and Always On Availability Groups.
- Experience configuring and supporting replication, especially transactional replication with centralized distribution.
- Proven experience handling sensitive data securely.
- Experience with source control for database projects, including branching, workflows, and peer reviews.
- Technical understanding of TFS/Azure DevOps Server and Octopus Deploy.
- Good experience with PowerShell scripting and automation.
- Excellent troubleshooting and fault-resolution skills.
- Understanding of DevOps, Agile, Scrum, and Kanban processes and methodologies.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with willingness to learn and adopt industry developments across development and operations.
