$143k - $220k/yr

Responsibilities

Design, implement, and operate highly available PostgreSQL clusters using replication, sharding or partitioning, automated failover, and multi-region disaster recovery.
Optimize queries, indexes, schemas, storage engines, capacity, growth forecasts, and workload models.
Automate provisioning, configuration, backups, failovers, vacuum tuning, and schema management.
Build monitoring, alerting, and self-healing systems for PostgreSQL and MySQL.
Lead database incident response and root-cause analysis for performance, replication, storage, and reliability issues.
Collaborate with software engineers on SQL reviews, database design patterns, migrations, version upgrades, and PostgreSQL best practices.

At least 4 years of hands-on PostgreSQL experience in high-volume, distributed, or large-scale production environments.
Deep knowledge of PostgreSQL internals, including WAL, MVCC, vacuum tuning, query planning, indexing, and logical replication.
Production experience with MySQL, including InnoDB internals, replication, and performance tuning.
Advanced SQL skills and strong schema design and query optimization knowledge.
Experience with Linux systems, networking fundamentals, and systems troubleshooting.
Experience building automation with Go or Python.
Production experience with Prometheus, Grafana, Datadog, PMM, or pg_stat_statements.
Hands-on experience with AWS or GCP.
Preferred experience with PgBouncer, HAProxy, Kafka, Debezium, 24/7 production environments, on-call rotations, or contributions to the open-source PostgreSQL ecosystem.
Ability to provide documentation establishing U.S. Person status for access to federal environments or protected federal data.
