Responsibilities
- Lead a portfolio of diverse technology projects and a team of developers building distributed microservices and full-stack systems.
- Design and implement large-scale, distributed, cloud-native systems with high reliability and performance requirements.
- Provide technical leadership across multiple teams and shape system architecture and long-term technology direction.
- Collaborate with digital product managers to deliver robust cloud-based solutions.
- Partner with architects and product leaders to define platform roadmaps and shared services strategy.
- Mentor engineering team members and drive professional development.
- Lead architectural design reviews, cross-functional engineering efforts, and large-scale technical initiatives.
- Establish coding standards, design patterns, observability practices, and reliability practices across teams.
- Use modern AI-based coding tools and interactive AI tooling to accelerate productivity.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science or a related quantitative field such as Statistics, Economics, Operations Research, Analytics, Mathematics, or Engineering.
- At least 6 years of software engineering experience; internship experience does not apply.
- At least 3 years of experience with public cloud platforms, cloud-based productivity tools, or virtualization technologies.
- Preferred experience includes 9+ years coding with more than two of Go, Java, JavaScript/TypeScript, Python, Rust, C#, and Scala.
- Preferred experience includes open source frameworks, front-end JavaScript or TypeScript frameworks, synchronous and asynchronous APIs, databases, cloud platforms, CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure as code, automated testing frameworks, and Git-based version control.
- Preferred experience includes troubleshooting cloud environments, mentoring senior engineers, applying observability to distributed systems, leading architecture reviews, enforcing coding standards, and implementing reliability practices at scale.
- Preferred qualifications include experience influencing technology strategy and leading cross-functional engineering efforts or large-scale technical initiatives.
- A master’s degree in Computer Science or a related field is preferred.
