Responsibilities
- Make sound, defensible technical and architectural decisions and explain the trade-offs.
- Design systems with attention to wider architecture, failure propagation, scalability, reliability, auditability, and controls.
- Connect technical choices to business outcomes and appropriately size solutions.
- Build and operate systems in a hands-on role while remaining active in the codebase.
- Mentor engineers, raise technical standards, and act as a multiplier across teams.
- Advance practical everyday use of AI within the engineering domain.
- Move initiatives forward across multiple teams without formal authority.
Requirements
- Experience building and operating systems with significant reliability and performance demands at scale.
- Ideally, experience working in Java, JavaScript, or Python environments.
- Ability to make trade-offs, articulate rejected alternatives, and prioritize business outcomes over unnecessary engineering complexity.
- Ability to explain complex systems to technical and non-technical audiences.
- Experience leading through technical work and operating effectively amid ambiguity.
- Experience learning from production incidents or designs that did not perform as expected and improving systems afterward.
- A CV in English is required.
