Responsibilities
- Work with partners on platform bring-up.
- Debug and prioritize issues, escalating them to engineering teams when needed.
- Facilitate communication between Ubuntu, firmware, and hardware engineering teams.
- Build and maintain working relationships with OEM, ODM, and silicon partners.
- Conduct root cause analysis and organize reproduction details and explanations.
- Provide rapid responses and estimated timelines for resolving technical issues.
- Plan, build, and deliver Ubuntu ecosystem technical training for Canonical partners.
- Design and provide factory support during production preparation and production runs.
- Travel occasionally to the EU, USA, Taiwan, and China.
Requirements
- Strong Linux kernel, boot, and system-level architecture skills.
- Ability to debug and resolve Linux system issues and perform root cause analysis.
- English written and verbal communication skills.
- Exceptional academic track record from high school and university.
- Undergraduate degree in a technical subject or a compelling narrative about an alternative chosen path.
- Ability to work productively in a globally distributed team and collaborate effectively with customers and partners.
- Ability to learn quickly and work on cutting-edge technologies.
- Ability to travel internationally twice a year for company events lasting up to two weeks.
- Experience with system firmware, including UEFI, ACPI, DSDT, boot loaders, and device firmware, is preferred.
- Experience debugging PCI ASPM, SATA ALPM, and low-power profiles is preferred.
- Experience in board design, bring-up, and validation is preferred.
- Knowledge of x86, ARM, and RISC-V computer architectures is preferred.
