Responsibilities

  • Evaluate, create, build, bench test, debug, and analyze failures in firmware for memory controllers and SSDs.
  • Develop high-performance embedded firmware that improves performance while reducing power, latency, and SoC complexity.
  • Triage failures, file bug reports, reproduce and trap problems, and help development teams isolate issues.
  • Identify and optimize performance-critical algorithms.
  • Configure and debug ASIC register settings in an SoC and embedded firmware development environment.
  • Scope and estimate development effort while collaborating with multidisciplinary engineering teams.

Requirements

  • 6–15 years of embedded firmware experience in storage or SSDs is a strong plus.
  • Strong firmware design and debugging experience using assembly and C programming.
  • Knowledge of NAND flash, SSD flash translation layers, wear leveling, and garbage collection.
  • Knowledge of mass storage interfaces such as SATA, SAS, and NVMe; NVMe experience is an optional strong plus.
  • Knowledge of configuring and debugging ASIC register settings in an SoC and embedded firmware development environment.
  • Strong problem recreation, trapping, and performance optimization skills.
  • Strong skills with ARM development tools and an IDE such as Eclipse.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or equivalent required.
  • Ability to work and communicate effectively in a team and multitask in a fast-paced environment.
  • Working knowledge of digital hardware design is a plus.
  • Experience with oscilloscopes and logic or bus analyzers is beneficial.
  • Experience using AI-assisted engineering tools for firmware development, debugging, automation, test generation, log analysis, and productivity improvement.
