Responsibilities
- Design, develop, test, and troubleshoot software applications for spacecraft and other space systems.
- Architect and implement complex software systems using clean, maintainable code and established coding standards.
- Collaborate with team members to understand requirements and contribute to effective software solutions.
- Manage code changes with version control, participate in code reviews, and document software configurations, processes, and procedures.
- Develop and debug flight, mission management, payload control, client-server, publish/subscribe, and embedded software as applicable.
- Mentor and guide other engineers and provide technical leadership and support.
- Stay current with software development and space technology trends and advancements.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in a related field, or equivalent work experience in lieu of a degree, or a master's degree plus 3 years of experience.
- Typically 5+ years of related experience.
- Expertise in one or more programming languages and advanced understanding of software development principles.
- Ability to design and architect complex software systems.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to mentor and guide other engineers.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Security Clearance; U.S. citizenship is required for the active clearance requirement.
- Preferred qualifications include strong C++ and object-oriented programming knowledge, spacecraft flight software experience, mission management or payload control software experience, and team leadership experience.
- Preferred experience includes TCP/UDP socket I/O, publish/subscribe messaging, CCSDS, C2MS, OMS, UCI, software design patterns, SysML/UML, SITL and HITL testing, Linux, network configurations including netconf, embedded programming, and computer performance optimization.
- Preferred experience includes software requirements tracking, code reviews, static analysis, library and artifact repositories, automated builds, and source code configuration management.
