Base Salary

$127k - $174k/yr

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, architect, and test software applications and algorithms for spacecraft and space systems.
  • Participate in the full flight-software lifecycle, including concept development, requirements definition, design, development, testing, and deployment.
  • Develop and test embedded flight code using C++ and object-oriented design principles.
  • Analyze satellite, constellation, sensor, communications, ground-infrastructure, and mission architectures.
  • Implement and test designs in testbed prototypes and software- and hardware-in-the-loop environments.
  • Use Git and related configuration-management tools, participate in code reviews, troubleshoot issues, and document software configurations and procedures.
  • Evaluate mission effectiveness and balance mission objectives against development and lifecycle costs.
  • Mentor and guide engineers while providing technical leadership and support.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field, or equivalent work experience in lieu of a degree, or a master’s degree plus 3 years of experience.
  • Typically 5+ years of related experience.
  • Expertise in one or more programming languages and advanced understanding of software development principles.
  • Strong C++ and object-oriented programming experience, including flight-code development on embedded processors.
  • Ability to design and architect complex software systems.
  • Experience with TCP/UDP socket I/O, publish/subscribe messaging, spacecraft flight software, and mission management or payload control software.
  • Experience with requirements tracking, code reviews, static analysis, artifact repositories, automated builds, and source-code configuration management.
  • Experience with SysML/UML software design, Linux development, network configuration including netconf, embedded programming, and computer-performance optimization.
  • Experience testing and debugging in software-in-the-loop and hardware-in-the-loop environments.
  • Familiarity with CCSDS, C2MS, Open Mission Systems, and Universal C2 Interface standards.
  • Experience with Agile, Scrum, or Kanban development environments.
  • Ability to mentor or lead software-development teams.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Security Clearance; U.S. citizenship is required for employment.
