Responsibilities
- Design, build, maintain, and optimize enterprise integrations and automations using Workato.
- Define integration standards, reusable patterns, design guidelines, and enterprise integration architecture.
- Implement standardized error handling, retry logic, dead letter queues, compensating transactions, alerting, logging, and graceful failure handling.
- Support integrations connecting UKG Pro, Deel, Greenhouse, Degreed Learning Experience Platform, Replicon, and other business applications.
- Design secure authentication and secret-management patterns using OAuth 2.0, JWT, SAML, API keys, certificates, and least-privilege principles.
- Troubleshoot complex cross-system production issues and drive them to resolution.
- Improve integration and data documentation and evaluate Workato AI capabilities including MCP, Workato Genies, and Agent Studio.
- Lead technical discussions with architects and business stakeholders and mentor other integration engineers.
- Stay current with Workato updates, integration best practices, and AI-driven automation capabilities.
Requirements
- At least 5 years of hands-on integration experience.
- Required Workato certification, such as Workato Automation Pro or higher.
- Strong hands-on experience with REST APIs, HTTP methods, authentication, pagination, rate limits, webhooks, and JSON payloads.
- Experience designing reusable, versioned, and maintainable APIs and integrations.
- Strong understanding of OAuth 2.0, JWT, API keys, Basic Auth, SAML, certificates, secret management, encryption, and least-privilege access.
- Proficiency with JSON and XML parsing, transformation, mapping, and complex data payloads.
- Experience with data transformation, mapping, filtering, aggregation, cleansing, deduplication, and schema conversion.
- Working knowledge of SQL, database querying, troubleshooting, and relational data models.
- Understanding of event-driven architecture, event streams, asynchronous processing, and message-based integrations.
- Familiarity with request/response, publish/subscribe, polling, batch processing, ETL, orchestration, and choreography patterns.
- Experience with or strong interest in Salesforce, NetSuite, GCP, UKG, Deel, Ramp, Jira, Freshservice, and Coupa is preferred.
- Familiarity with Workato MCP, Workato Genies, and Agent Studio is preferred.
- Experience with version control, CI/CD, monitoring, and observability tooling is preferred.
- Awareness of GDPR, SOC 2, and other data privacy and compliance considerations is preferred.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, communication, technical leadership, mentoring, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
