Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain complex enterprise-scale Java applications and backend or full-stack features.
- Lead technical direction for modules and subsystems while remaining hands-on in implementation.
- Modernize legacy and monolithic Java systems into modern, cloud-ready and modular architectures.
- Design and integrate backend services, APIs, data models, and integration workflows.
- Apply object-oriented design principles, design patterns, and layered or hexagonal architecture.
- Perform technical trade-off analysis and contribute to application and solution architecture decisions.
- Improve performance and stability through profiling, memory analysis, JVM tuning, and production tuning.
- Ensure code quality through unit testing, mocking, static analysis, and strong test coverage.
- Collaborate with product, QA, DevOps, architecture, and global engineering teams through end-to-end delivery.
- Mentor engineers and provide technical guidance across teams.
Requirements
- 6–8 years of hands-on experience in Java-based software development on global or enterprise projects.
- MCA or bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent.
- Strong experience with software design patterns, layered architectures, performance optimization, object-oriented design, and clean coding practices.
- Hands-on experience with unit testing and mocking frameworks such as JUnit and Mockito.
- Knowledge of performance profiling, memory analysis, microservices, service communication, integration patterns, Hibernate or JPA, and transaction management.
- Experience with product development environments and understanding of product development lifecycle and Lean Agile or Scrum methodologies.
- Familiarity with Azure cloud-native development, Azure Service Bus or similar messaging systems, Azure DevOps, Docker, cloud platforms, Maven, or Gradle.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, verbal, and written communication skills.
- Experience with shipping or logistics workflows, scientific data processing, genomics, or laboratory systems is a plus.
- Exposure to event-driven or message-based systems is a plus.
