Responsibilities
- Set technical strategy for the team on a year-long horizon and connect it to business-impacting projects.
- Collaborate with product management, design, and analytics to manage technical sustainability, risks, and trade-offs.
- Define and advocate for technical solutions and operational processes that multiply the team’s effectiveness.
- Own team operations and availability through monitoring, triage rotations, playbooks, policies, testing, alerting, and on-call practices.
- Establish code review and design standards and promote quality and ownership through writing and technical talks.
- Develop team talent through feedback, guidance, and leadership by example.
- Build and maintain shared mobile infrastructure, including design systems, networking, observability, experimentation, CI/CD, app releases, and developer tooling.
Requirements
- 7+ years of experience developing and architecting mobile applications, including 4+ years using React Native.
- Proficiency with JavaScript and TypeScript, plus hands-on React Native and Expo experience.
- Experience authoring or migrating native modules and components and debugging across the JavaScript-to-native boundary under React Native’s New Architecture.
- Experience with complex React state management; Redux Toolkit proficiency is a bonus.
- Experience performing major React Native SDK updates and staying current with native operating system releases.
- Experience with mobile testing, observability, crash reporting, experimentation, and feature-flagging tools such as Maestro, Appium, Sentry, Crashlytics, Statsig, and LaunchDarkly.
- Proficiency with AI-assisted development tools such as Claude Code or comparable agentic tooling, with judgment about appropriate guardrails and quality standards.
- Proven track record driving teams to execute large projects and delivering major features, system components, or deprecations through technical and execution plans.
- Strong coding, architecture, communication, collaboration, feedback, and talent-development skills.
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent practical experience.
