Responsibilities
- Lead the design, development, and optimization of scalable backend services using Java and serverless technologies.
- Architect and implement RESTful APIs and event-driven systems for distributed applications.
- Provide technical leadership, conduct system design reviews, and align implementations with architectural standards.
- Develop and integrate user-facing frontend components when needed.
- Optimize existing services for performance, scalability, and cost efficiency.
- Collaborate with architects, product managers, engineering leads, and distributed teams across Europe and the United States.
- Mentor and coach junior engineers and promote technical growth.
- Oversee CI/CD pipeline implementation and maintenance for automated build, deployment, and testing.
- Maintain code quality through peer reviews, testing, and software development best practices.
- Create documentation, usage guidelines, and examples for shared components.
Requirements
- More than 10 years of backend development experience with deep Java proficiency.
- Extensive hands-on experience with serverless frameworks and AWS serverless application development.
- Expertise in distributed systems, scalability, and advanced data modeling.
- Experience with AWS services including Lambda, DynamoDB, API Gateway, SNS, SQS, and EventBridge.
- Frontend experience with React and Web Components; Angular experience is also welcomed.
- Experience implementing and managing CI/CD pipelines and familiarity with DevOps and infrastructure-as-code practices.
- Experience conducting system design reviews focused on architecture, scalability, performance, and best practices.
- Proven experience as a Tech Lead, including mentoring and coaching junior engineers.
- Strong collaboration and communication skills across technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Strong problem-solving skills and experience troubleshooting and optimizing systems.
- Ability to make strategic technical decisions while balancing deadlines and business goals.
- Familiarity with monitoring and observability tools such as CloudWatch, New Relic, or Datadog.
- Understanding of NoSQL databases and data modeling.
- Understanding or experience with AI/ML.
