Responsibilities

  • Lead the design, development, and optimization of scalable backend services using Java and serverless technologies.
  • Architect and implement RESTful APIs and event-driven systems for distributed applications.
  • Provide technical leadership, conduct system design reviews, and align implementations with architectural standards.
  • Develop and integrate user-facing frontend components when needed.
  • Optimize existing services for performance, scalability, and cost efficiency.
  • Collaborate with architects, product managers, engineering leads, and distributed teams across Europe and the United States.
  • Mentor and coach junior engineers and promote technical growth.
  • Oversee CI/CD pipeline implementation and maintenance for automated build, deployment, and testing.
  • Maintain code quality through peer reviews, testing, and software development best practices.
  • Create documentation, usage guidelines, and examples for shared components.

Requirements

  • More than 10 years of backend development experience with deep Java proficiency.
  • Extensive hands-on experience with serverless frameworks and AWS serverless application development.
  • Expertise in distributed systems, scalability, and advanced data modeling.
  • Experience with AWS services including Lambda, DynamoDB, API Gateway, SNS, SQS, and EventBridge.
  • Frontend experience with React and Web Components; Angular experience is also welcomed.
  • Experience implementing and managing CI/CD pipelines and familiarity with DevOps and infrastructure-as-code practices.
  • Experience conducting system design reviews focused on architecture, scalability, performance, and best practices.
  • Proven experience as a Tech Lead, including mentoring and coaching junior engineers.
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills across technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and experience troubleshooting and optimizing systems.
  • Ability to make strategic technical decisions while balancing deadlines and business goals.
  • Familiarity with monitoring and observability tools such as CloudWatch, New Relic, or Datadog.
  • Understanding of NoSQL databases and data modeling.
  • Understanding or experience with AI/ML.
