Responsibilities
- Lead the technical direction and delivery of a Cloud Operations squad.
- Remain hands-on with cloud infrastructure, operational challenges, and platform improvements.
- Design, build, and maintain cloud infrastructure using Infrastructure as Code.
- Drive automation, monitoring, incident management, service restoration, and continuous improvement.
- Coach and mentor engineers on technical decisions, code quality, infrastructure practices, and AI-assisted engineering.
- Lead or contribute to technical design reviews and architectural discussions.
- Collaborate with Cloud Centre of Excellence teams to maintain infrastructure standards.
- Serve as a senior escalation point for complex operational incidents.
- Drive adoption of AI-powered operations, automation, and intelligent incident management.
- Ensure cloud platforms are secure, resilient, cost-effective, and scalable.
- Represent squad capacity, technical constraints, and operational priorities in planning discussions.
Requirements
- 8–12 years of experience in platform engineering, cloud infrastructure, or site reliability engineering environments.
- Extensive experience with AWS and ideally exposure to Azure.
- Strong expertise in Terraform, Kubernetes, EKS, ECS, and Python or Go.
- Experience leading technical direction while remaining actively hands-on.
- Strong understanding of Infrastructure as Code, CI/CD pipelines, Git, and modern engineering practices.
- Experience with observability and monitoring tools such as Datadog, Grafana, CloudWatch, or Splunk.
- Knowledge of cloud networking, IAM, load balancing, DNS, storage, and managed database services.
- Experience with incident management, root cause analysis, service restoration, and operational governance.
- Proven ability to automate work and reduce operational toil.
- Strong communication, stakeholder management, coaching, decision-making, collaboration, and continuous improvement skills.
