Base Salary
$146k - $209k/yr
Responsibilities
- Own the end-to-end architecture and technical direction of core backend services.
- Design and build highly available distributed systems and APIs.
- Set technical standards, design patterns, and engineering practices across teams.
- Lead architecture reviews, major design decisions, migrations, and production root-cause analysis.
- Mentor engineers and influence technical direction across teams without formal management authority.
- Use AI coding agents to accelerate development, refactoring, debugging, and platform innovation.
- Champion quality, observability, operational readiness, code review, testing, and delivery practices.
Requirements
- 8+ years of professional software engineering experience, including 3+ years in a lead or staff-level capacity.
- Experience owning architecture for a significant backend product area, ideally in a SaaS environment.
- Strong proficiency in a backend language such as Java, C#, or Kotlin.
- Experience with microservices, distributed systems, API design, cloud platforms, CI/CD pipelines, Docker, and Kubernetes.
- Hands-on experience using AI coding agents in day-to-day development.
- Ability to influence technical direction and mentor engineers across teams.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Preferred qualifications include legacy-platform modernization, large-scale migrations, observability and SRE practices, event-driven architectures, messaging systems, and AI/ML-enabled engineering workflows.
