Base Salary

$295k - $345k/yr

Responsibilities

  • Develop and optimize network transport systems for Roblox’s real-time game platform.
  • Solve scale, performance, latency, and throughput challenges in client/server environments.
  • Work across desktop, mobile, and console clients and throughout the game platform.
  • Analyze network exchanges and operating-system behavior to reduce latency and resource waste.
  • Contribute to a large multithreaded distributed system connecting millions of users worldwide.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of game networking experience from a game engine or studio.
  • Experience building or working on a powerful user-space network stack at scale.
  • Experience with large multithreaded distributed systems connecting millions of users worldwide.
  • Experience supporting desktop, mobile phone, and console clients.
  • Experience with game engines and understanding of how they work.
  • Deep understanding of network stacks and interest in open source.
  • Strong systems-level C++ programming experience, including smart pointers, templates, virtual functions, and memory management.
  • Experience with Linux networking, QoS, and congestion control algorithms.
  • Understanding of operating-system-level behavior and strong focus on reducing network latency.
