Responsibilities
- Own AI-powered, member-facing Android features from prototyping through production and iteration, including integration with backend AI services.
- Develop responsive, scalable Android features using Kotlin and Jetpack Compose.
- Refactor existing features to improve code quality, performance, and maintainability.
- Build and evolve reusable design-system components, shared libraries, and Android platform foundations.
- Ensure quality through code reviews, automated testing, and Android engineering best practices.
- Contribute to build tooling, CI performance, and engineering practices across the Android codebase.
- Collaborate with engineers, designers, UX professionals, product managers, backend engineers, data scientists, and researchers.
Requirements
- At least 5 years of professional experience shipping Android applications.
- Deep experience with Kotlin, Jetpack Compose, modern Android architectures such as MVVM and MVI, and Android platform APIs.
- Experience building complex user-facing features and reusable UI components in collaborative shared codebases.
- Proficiency with Git, branching strategies, pull requests, and code review workflows.
- Experience with unit, instrumentation, and snapshot/Compose testing, plus familiarity with mobile CI.
- Ability to design performant, reusable, maintainable, and testable code and take end-to-end ownership.
- Strong cross-functional collaboration, communication, analytical, troubleshooting, adaptability, and problem-solving skills.
- Preferred experience includes Kotlin Coroutines, Flow, performance profiling, app startup optimization, Room, SQLDelight, Proto DataStore, iOS or backend development, GenAI/LLM-powered features, shared design systems or SDKs, Android widgets, mentoring, distributed collaboration, health or fitness products, systems architecture, accessibility standards, or shipping personal Android apps.
