Responsibilities
- Design and build generative AI and agentic systems that solve business problems and deliver measurable value.
- Develop AI agents using reasoning, planning, retrieval, tool integration, and orchestration patterns.
- Evaluate agents before and after deployment and continuously improve their effectiveness, latency, reliability, and cost.
- Design experiments covering prompts, retrieval strategies, agent workflows, tool integrations, and user experience.
- Analyze runtime, accuracy, output quality, customer needs, containment, resolution time, satisfaction, sentiment, and return on investment.
- Monitor production agent performance, including latency, failure rates, tool-call success, escalation rates, retries, and cost per interaction.
- Produce evaluation, control-effectiveness, model-performance, and risk-mitigation evidence for AI governance reviews.
- Partner with product owners and business teams to identify automation opportunities and define AI use cases, objectives, constraints, and success criteria.
- Influence architectural decisions and engineering standards while delivering complex cross-team initiatives with limited supervision.
- Educate technical teams, business stakeholders, and senior leaders on AI concepts, risks, opportunities, designs, and recommendations.
- Collaborate with software, cloud, data, and machine learning engineers to integrate AI solutions into existing systems and products.
- Work with compliance, security, and risk teams to meet governance, regulatory, and responsible AI requirements.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Data Science, Mathematics, or a related technical field.
- At least 6 years of experience developing software or AI solutions in production environments.
- Strong programming skills in Python, TypeScript, Java, Go, or similar languages.
- Expertise in generative AI techniques including context engineering, LLM fine-tuning, retrieval-augmented generation, evaluation frameworks, model context protocol, loop or graph engineering, skills or open knowledge formats, and agentic system design.
- Experience with cloud computing platforms, especially AWS, is preferred.
- Familiarity with prompt optimization, retrieval tuning, caching, and model selection for generative AI performance, latency, cost, and reliability.
- Knowledge of agent frameworks and SDKs such as LangChain, LangGraph, LlamaIndex, Semantic Kernel, Strands, Google ADK, Anthropic SDK, or OpenAI SDK.
- Proficiency with version control systems such as Git and GitHub.
- Understanding of CI/CD pipelines, DevOps practices, data structures, algorithms, and software design principles.
- Experience with Docker, Terraform, and observability systems for AI applications is preferred.
- Advanced degree is preferred but not required.
- Ability to communicate clearly, build consensus, collaborate across teams, work independently, and apply ethical and responsible AI practices.
- Willingness to relocate to Cincinnati, Ohio.
