Base Salary
$160k - $320k/yr
Responsibilities
- Lead technical execution and delivery of backend and Kubernetes platform projects from design through production readiness.
- Establish project plans, clarify requirements, identify risks, and drive execution with a small team of engineers.
- Provide technical direction, mentorship, code reviews, debugging support, and career-development guidance to junior engineers.
- Design and implement backend components using declarative and GitOps-oriented workflows.
- Improve Kubernetes cluster lifecycle management, upgrades, observability, reliability, security, and day-two operations.
- Diagnose production issues across Kubernetes, container runtimes, networking, storage, and platform services.
- Collaborate with global engineering, product management, SRE, support, and other cross-functional teams.
- Produce architecture specifications, design documents, operational runbooks, and production-ready system definitions.
Requirements
- 9–16 years of professional software engineering experience focused on backend systems, distributed platforms, or cloud infrastructure.
- Experience leading a significant software project with a small engineering team and mentoring junior engineers.
- Strong knowledge of Kubernetes architecture and internals, including control planes, scheduling, networking, storage, security, controllers, and cluster lifecycle management.
- Hands-on experience operating production or production-like Kubernetes clusters, including troubleshooting, upgrades, patching, capacity management, observability, and reliability improvements.
- Experience with containerization, container image lifecycle management, and Helm chart architecture.
- Proficiency with Git, GitOps synchronization workflows, declarative configuration management, and automated CI/CD pipelines such as GitHub Actions.
- Strong programming ability in Go or Python and experience producing maintainable, testable, production-ready code.
- Experience designing backend services, APIs, controllers, or distributed-systems automation for cloud-native platforms.
- Familiarity with Linux server environments, file systems, operating-system primitives, networking fundamentals, and production debugging.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills and experience collaborating across time zones and disciplines in Agile, hybrid, matrixed organizations.
- Preferred experience building Kubernetes operators, controllers, admission webhooks, or custom resources.
- Preferred familiarity with controller-runtime, multi-cluster management, fleet operations, application mobility, multi-tenancy, Kubernetes security and compliance, AI/ML or GPU workloads, distributed storage, networking, virtualization, infrastructure management systems, or CNCF open-source projects.
