Base Salary

$170k - $190k/yr

Responsibilities

  • Design and build high-throughput real-time data ingestion pipelines using Kafka and Numaflow.
  • Architect data enrichment pipelines that convert raw telemetry into contextualized performance signals.
  • Own storage strategy across ClickHouse, TimescaleDB, and Elasticsearch, including schema design, query optimization, indexing, and partitioning.
  • Design retention, rollup, sharding, load-distribution, and horizontal-scaling strategies.
  • Tune the Extreme Platform ONE performance monitoring platform for increasing data volume and query concurrency.
  • Identify and resolve bottlenecks across streaming consumers and storage-layer query plans.
  • Establish capacity planning, load-testing, and performance-benchmarking practices.
  • Support pre-deployment performance regression testing and security checks.
  • Collaborate with QA and engineering, data, and platform teams on correctness, resilience, architecture, and technical decisions.
  • Maintain architecture documentation, data-flow documentation, and operational runbooks.
  • Apply secure coding practices and participate in security-focused code reviews.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of software engineering experience, including significant experience building and scaling data pipelines or observability platforms.
  • Strong hands-on experience with Kafka or similar streaming platforms for high-throughput ingestion.
  • Experience with Numaflow or similar stream-processing and dataflow frameworks.
  • Deep expertise in ClickHouse, TimescaleDB, or other time-series or columnar databases, including schema design and query optimization.
  • Experience with Elasticsearch for search and analytics at scale.
  • Strong query optimization skills across SQL, time-series, and search-oriented data stores.
  • Proficiency in multiple programming languages such as Go, Java, Python, or similar.
  • Understanding of container security, Kubernetes, and cloud infrastructure.
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines and build systems.
  • Working knowledge of security scanning tools and vulnerability types including OWASP Top 10 and CWE.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
  • Preferred experience with multi-tenant, high-cardinality time-series platforms, observability systems, stream-processing and enrichment pipelines, capacity planning, load testing, performance benchmarking, API security testing, and web application security.
  • Security certifications such as CEH or Security+ are preferred but not required.

  • Full-time position located in Seattle, WA or San Jose, CA.
  • Salary based on qualifications, experience, and region up to USD 170 k to 190K, plus benefits.
