Base Salary

$187k - $268k/yr

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and operate scalable, highly available distributed storage and key-value services in cloud and on-premises environments.
  • Build cloud-native services using C++, Go, Python, and related technologies.
  • Lead features and projects from technical design through implementation, testing, deployment, and production validation.
  • Develop secure, maintainable production code and unit tests while improving engineering practices.
  • Contribute to architecture and technical design decisions focused on security, scalability, reliability, simplification, and user experience.
  • Operate software deployed in Kubernetes-based and containerized environments, including monitoring and observability capabilities.
  • Identify and resolve complex development and production risks and issues.
  • Lead postmortems and root-cause analysis, drive corrective actions, and support on-call coverage and operational readiness.
  • Apply secure coding practices, protect user privacy, and contribute to threat modeling.
  • Partner with product management, design, engineering, architecture, and other teams on technical solutions.
  • Scope work, estimate delivery, manage dependencies and workstreams, and communicate risks and trade-offs.
  • Influence the software engineering roadmap through product innovation and engineering improvement ideas.
  • Create technical design and customer-facing or user documentation.
  • Mentor engineers through reviews, technical guidance, demonstrations, and knowledge sharing.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree with 8+ years of related experience, Master’s degree with 6+ years of related experience, or PhD with 3+ years of related experience.
  • 7 years of experience developing production backend services and versioned APIs in Go, C++, or another systems programming language.
  • 7 years of experience designing and operating production database-backed services using a graph, relational, or NoSQL database, including schema evolution, transaction handling, backup or recovery, or performance tuning.
  • 7 years of experience designing production distributed systems involving consistency, replication, partitioning, routing, or failure recovery.
  • 7 years of experience delivering and operating containerized services through CI/CD on Kubernetes in a public-cloud or on-premises environment.
  • Preferred experience includes scalable distributed storage and key-value services, cloud-native services using C++, Go, and Python, Kubernetes-based deployments, and service architecture and implementation decisions.
