Base Salary
$240k - $300k/yr
Responsibilities
- Drive the technical strategy, roadmap, architectural direction, technology choices, and technical debt decisions for the Issue Workflow platform.
- Build and scale real-time data pipelines, search backends, analysis systems, and other distributed systems supporting billions of events.
- Solve complex performance and scalability challenges across the product.
- Develop high-quality features with careful attention to interfaces, error messages, loading states, edge cases, instrumentation, and developer experience.
- Shape issue grouping, fast search, agentic workflows, and performance across Sentry’s most trafficked product surface.
- Partner with engineering leadership, product, and design on the multi-quarter technical vision.
- Mentor and elevate engineers in systems design, coding practices, and product thinking.
Requirements
- 10+ years of full-stack software engineering experience, ideally with Python and TypeScript.
- Expertise in domain modeling, distributed systems, data stores, and message queues.
- Experience with PostgreSQL, ClickHouse, and Kafka is preferred.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Understanding of high-scale architectures, including eventual consistency, partitioning, caching, query optimization, failure handling, and graceful degradation.
- Ability to collaborate with product and design teams and make user-centered architectural decisions.
- Experience mentoring and developing other engineers.
