Responsibilities
- Drive the design and implementation of foundational platforms and systems used across Scale.
- Design data platforms and lifecycle systems, core cloud infrastructure, orchestration capabilities, and developer build, test, and deployment tooling.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define requirements, design solutions, and deliver features.
- Experiment with current AI techniques and technologies in the team’s AI domain.
- Improve programming practices through process enhancements and tool upgrades.
- Present technical information and provide guidance on development processes and technologies.
Requirements
- 5+ years of full-time engineering experience after graduation, specializing in backend systems.
- Extensive software development experience and deep knowledge of highly scalable, reliable distributed systems on public cloud platforms.
- Experience building document retrieval and understanding systems such as RAG for client agents and applications.
- A track record of independently owning and delivering engineering projects while collaborating with and inspiring others.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills, including the ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
- Fluency with Kubernetes, Terraform, Docker, and related containerization and deployment technologies.
- Experience with long-running agent and code orchestration platforms such as Temporal.
- Strong experience storing state in structured databases, including Postgres.
- Knowledge of software engineering best practices and CI/CD tooling such as CircleCI and GitHub Actions.
- Interest in AI technologies and building agentic experiences.
- Preferred experience with GCP, AWS, Azure, Oracle, or on-premise environments; knowledge graphs, hierarchical indexes, Databricks, Snowflake, Zanzibar, or Authz; and scaling products at hyper-growth startups.
