Responsibilities
- Own and evolve system-level architecture for a Windows-based IVD software product deployed to customer environments.
- Design, configure, and support deployments using IIS, SQL Server, WSL, and Docker across on-premises, virtualized, and cloud environments.
- Identify and mitigate risks across operating systems, virtual machines, containers, networking, databases, and cloud infrastructure.
- Lead root-cause analysis of complex issues spanning applications, operating systems, databases, containers, and infrastructure.
- Define supported deployment models, environment assumptions, constraints, and known failure modes.
- Partner with software engineering on system dependencies, scalability limits, and operational risks.
- Contribute to containerized and orchestrated deployment strategies and influence CI/CD and release processes.
- Apply security hardening, access control, patching, and vulnerability-management practices.
- Improve logging, monitoring, diagnostics, operational tooling, and deployment automation.
- Maintain system architecture documentation, deployment guides, and operational playbooks.
- Serve as a senior escalation point and mentor for system-level issues.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Minimum 6–7 years of experience supporting commercial product software.
- Deep hands-on experience with Windows Server environments, including IIS and SQL Server in production.
- Strong working knowledge of Linux systems such as Ubuntu and RHEL-based distributions in product deployments.
- Proven experience with Docker and containerized application deployments.
- Experience with VMware, Hyper-V, and cloud infrastructure.
- Hands-on experience with AWS services including EC2, VPC, IAM, and storage services.
- Ability to diagnose and resolve complex issues across software, operating-system, and infrastructure layers.
- Experience developing automation scripts using Bash, PowerShell, Python, or similar languages.
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and release workflows in regulated or quality-focused environments.
- Preferred experience with IVD, medical-device, or other regulated software products.
- Preferred experience maintaining distributed products across 100+ enterprise customer installations.
- Exposure to ECS, EKS, or Kubernetes is preferred.
- Experience with infrastructure-as-code or configuration-management tools is preferred.
- Familiarity with monitoring, logging, operational diagnostics, compliance, and audit expectations is preferred.
- Ability to influence system architecture and technical direction without formal management responsibility.
