Responsibilities
- Develop, review, document, and maintain SSD firmware source code in C/C++.
- Analyze internal and customer specifications and develop firmware that meets product requirements and constraints.
- Develop low-level firmware, operating-system components, device architectures, and system architectures in collaboration with hardware and ASIC design teams.
- Perform unit-level and system-level testing, failure analysis, debugging, and product validation.
- Work across firmware disciplines and the broader SSD architecture.
- Translate product requirements into development and validation plans with project stakeholders.
- Coordinate priorities and activities with engineering stakeholders to deliver committed milestones.
- Communicate technical findings and respond professionally to partner questions and issues.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
- At least 3 years of experience with embedded software or firmware development, including C/C++ programming, debugging, and operating close to hardware.
- Experience using software development and debugging tools such as Git, Python, and C/C++ debuggers.
- Ability to analyze technical problems, interpret test or debug data, and communicate findings clearly through work, coursework, internships, research, or engineering projects.
- Preferred understanding of SSD media-management concepts including flash translation layers, wear leveling, garbage collection, bad-block management, error correction, and data integrity.
- Preferred exposure to NAND flash memory concepts, including SLC, TLC, and QLC operation and related performance, endurance, retention, and reliability tradeoffs.
- Preferred exposure to storage interfaces or protocols such as NVMe, PCIe, SATA, and ONFI.
- Preferred interest in developing data-driven media-management algorithms that optimize SSD performance, endurance, reliability, and quality of service.
- Strong written, presentation, communication, interpersonal, teamwork, multitasking, influence, and leadership skills.
