Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and operate VMware ESXi and Nutanix virtualization platforms, including capacity, performance, and lifecycle management.
- Own the end-to-end VDI/HVD environment across AWS WorkSpaces, Omnissa Horizon, and Microsoft Windows 365/Azure Virtual Desktop.
- Build automation and monitoring for infrastructure provisioning, patching, management, alerting, and reduction of configuration drift.
- Administer Windows Server and support Linux workloads across a mixed infrastructure estate.
- Design and maintain networking and cloud connectivity, including routing, DNS, load balancing, and secure remote access.
- Take infrastructure initiatives from architecture and early technical groundwork through deployment, production scaling, migrations, rollouts, and cutover.
- Assist with on-premises datacenter management and coordinate provisioning, maintenance, and break-fix work with external vendors.
- Maintain platform documentation, standards, runbooks, and security hardening practices.
Requirements
- At least 7 years of infrastructure engineering experience with strong systems-level technical judgment.
- Proven expertise with VMware ESXi and Nutanix virtualization platforms.
- Strong hands-on Windows Server administration and working knowledge of Linux, networking, and AWS and/or Azure.
- Experience with one or more of AWS WorkSpaces, Omnissa Horizon, Microsoft Windows 365, or Azure Virtual Desktop.
- Experience building repeatable automation and tooling with PowerShell, Python, and configuration-management or infrastructure-as-code tools such as Ansible or Terraform.
- Track record of owning technical projects and delivering them at production scale.
- Experience with monitoring, alerting, and troubleshooting distributed environments.
- Strong communication and ability to move between platform design and hands-on implementation.
- Preferred: VMware/Omnissa, Nutanix NCP, Microsoft, or AWS certifications; App Volumes or FSLogix; infrastructure-as-code and CI/CD; SAN/NAS, backup, and disaster recovery; or AI-assisted tooling for automation and troubleshooting.
