Base Salary
$295k - $445k/yr
Responsibilities
- Design and run experiments to improve agentic model behavior for complex software and plugins.
- Own end-to-end improvements to the post-training stack, including RL, data pipelines, graders, reward signals, evals, diagnostics, and model-behavior analysis.
- Build evaluations and environments that expose model failures and convert them into training data, product fixes, or research directions.
- Partner with Codex and ChatGPT product teams to translate user needs and product signals into model improvements.
- Develop early-training and alignment interventions involving data mixtures, objectives, synthetic data, and evaluation loops.
- Improve large-scale training and launch machinery for velocity, reliability, observability, reproducibility, cost, latency, and production readiness.
- Debug failures in shipped or near-shipped models and turn qualitative behavior into concrete experiments and fixes.
Requirements
- Strong technical fundamentals in machine learning, software engineering, systems, statistics, or a related field.
- Hands-on experience with LLMs, reinforcement learning, RLHF/RLAIF, post-training, evaluations, graders, synthetic data, model training, coding agents, tool-using agents, or production ML systems.
- Ability to turn ambiguous behavioral problems into hypotheses, experiments, pipelines, model runs, analyses, and decisions.
- Comfort working across research, product, infrastructure, data, evaluations, and safety boundaries.
- Clear communication and the ability to learn quickly across unfamiliar technical areas.
