Responsibilities
- Lead development of ML-powered products and AI Lenses focused on image and video generation and editing, as well as LLM-powered experiences.
- Define technical roadmaps and architectures for generative AI pipelines using diffusion and flow matching models while balancing visual quality, latency, reliability, and cost.
- Drive complex ML initiatives from prototype to production and ship initial consumer-facing experiences quickly.
- Partner with Product, Software Engineering, Lens Content, and Data Science on priorities, product ideas, A/B testing, and user feedback.
- Evaluate open-source models and third-party APIs, establish quality benchmarks, and lead build-versus-buy decisions.
- Mentor and unblock engineers through technical collaboration, design, and code reviews while building reusable capabilities.
Requirements
- Strong background in machine learning, including generative models, computer vision systems, or related deep learning applications.
- Strong programming skills in Python or C++ and proficiency with PyTorch or a comparable deep learning framework.
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, mathematics, statistics, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
- At least 5 years of ML experience after a bachelor’s degree, 4 years after a relevant master’s degree, or 1 year after a relevant PhD.
- Demonstrated experience leading complex ML projects into production, making architecture decisions, guiding engineers, and delivering cross-functionally.
- Preferred qualifications include 7+ years developing and deploying ML systems, hands-on technical leadership, and experience shipping consumer-facing image or video generation and editing products.
- Preferred experience includes diffusion or flow matching models, fine-tuning, conditioning, inference optimization, visual quality evaluation, prompt adherence, identity preservation, temporal consistency, computer graphics, augmented reality, multimodal models, and translating research into GenAI products.
