Responsibilities
- Architect, develop, and maintain test automation frameworks.
- Design and execute test suites for distributed-database stress, resiliency, scalability, and performance.
- Orchestrate distributed-systems tests that simulate real-world failure modes and disasters.
- Own feature quality from design reviews and test planning through production-ready automation.
- Modernize test infrastructure and improve efficiency and stability in CI/CD pipelines.
- Investigate data corruption, consistency violations, and other deep-seated defects by tracing failures to code-level causes.
- Scale test infrastructure with the product’s growing feature set.
- Use test and customer-issue feedback to influence product changes with development engineering teams.
- Act as a technical lead for junior engineers and advocate for customer experience.
- Contribute to internal and external knowledge bases and help customers maximize their YugabyteDB investment.
Requirements
- 5–8 years of experience in SDET or systems engineering.
- BS or MS in Computer Science or a related field.
- Deep understanding of distributed architecture, consistency models, the CAP theorem, and Raft consensus protocols.
- Knowledge of query processing, ACID transactions, recovery logs, and concurrent B-tree access is highly desirable.
- Proficiency with data structures and concurrent programming, including the ability to navigate a complex C++ codebase.
- Working knowledge of Python, Java, and advanced SQL.
- Understanding of JDBC APIs and database connectivity.
- Hands-on experience with Linux, shell scripting, Git, and scalable CI/CD pipelines.
- Ability to use generative AI and LLM-based coding assistants for test-suite authoring, refactoring, and optimization.
- Strong troubleshooting skills and a record of identifying complex bugs, including data corruption and consistency issues.
