Responsibilities

  • Review and approve pull requests for database changes and ensure database code meets quality, standards, and deployment requirements.
  • Package DDL, stored procedures, functions, and CLR/assembly changes into deployable artifacts using DACPAC, SLN, and manifest files.
  • Build, manage, and maintain database CI/CD pipelines with Jenkins and GitHub Actions/Workflows.
  • Coordinate database deployments alongside production application code releases and apply GitOps branching, pull request, and version-control practices.
  • Develop and optimize SQL and T-SQL scripts, stored procedures, functions, and other database objects.
  • Provide primary database support for lower and lab environments and troubleshoot deployment and database issues.
  • Configure, maintain, and troubleshoot SQL Server Transactional and Merge Replication environments.
  • Support AlwaysOn Availability Groups and other high-availability solutions.
  • Perform database backup, restore, disaster recovery, routine maintenance, root cause analysis, and performance troubleshooting.
  • Monitor database environments using SolarWinds DPA or equivalent tools.
  • Provision, configure, maintain, and support AWS RDS for MySQL and Amazon Aurora MySQL-compatible environments.
  • Troubleshoot SQL Server Integration Services packages and ETL workflows.
  • Partner with architects and developers to establish database deployment standards across SQL Server and Amazon Aurora RDS.
  • Develop automation scripts and operational tooling primarily in Python, with PowerShell as needed.
  • Contribute to Agile ceremonies and continuous improvement of database deployment and operational practices.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 8+ years of professional experience in database engineering or administration with strong DevOps and CI/CD exposure.
  • Advanced SQL and T-SQL programming knowledge.
  • Strong understanding of DevOps and GitOps principles for database change management.
  • Experience reviewing and approving database pull requests and deploying DDL, stored procedures, and functions.
  • Working knowledge of DACPAC, SLN, and manifest files for database release packaging; CLR/Assembly deployment is a plus.
  • Hands-on experience building and managing pipelines with Jenkins and GitHub Actions/Workflows.
  • Strong experience with Git branching, merging, pull requests, and code review workflows.
  • Experience with Redgate SQL Compare or similar schema comparison tools; Flyway or Liquibase familiarity is a plus.
  • Mandatory experience with SQL Server Transactional Replication and Merge Replication.
  • Hands-on expertise troubleshooting AlwaysOn Availability Groups and other high-availability solutions.
  • Experience with backup, restore, disaster recovery, root cause analysis, and database performance troubleshooting.
  • Mandatory experience with AWS RDS and Amazon Aurora MySQL.
  • Experience supporting SSIS packages and ETL processes.
  • Strong scripting and automation experience with Python; PowerShell is a plus.
  • Familiarity with SolarWinds DPA or similar monitoring platforms.
  • Cloud platform knowledge such as Amazon Web Services or Microsoft Azure is advantageous.
  • Infrastructure-as-Code and provisioning experience with AWS CloudFormation or Spacelift is advantageous.
  • Strong troubleshooting, analytical, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills, with experience in Agile environments.
