Responsibilities
- Build and enhance the foundational framework supporting large language model applications at Avalara.
- Design, prototype, implement, and deliver LLM platform features across the development lifecycle.
- Develop, debug, write, review, and maintain high-quality software using appropriate functional and unit testing.
- Apply software development best practices, including CI/CD, design patterns, and data structures.
- Research and apply emerging machine learning and software development technologies, particularly in AI and GenAI.
- Lead code review sessions and ensure code quality and documentation.
- Mentor junior engineers and promote collaboration and creativity.
- Help ensure systems are scalable, performant, and accurate.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science.
- 5+ years of industry experience in software development.
- Experience building machine learning models and deploying them in production environments.
- Experience with LLMs, including GPT, Claude, Llama, and Bedrock models.
- Proficiency with cloud computing environments such as AWS, Azure, and GCP.
- Experience with machine learning frameworks and software development best practices.
- Proficiency in Python is preferred, with familiarity with additional programming languages valued.
- Strong design, debugging, analytical, implementation, and problem-solving skills.
- Experience with design patterns and data structures.
