Responsibilities

  • Design embedded firmware solutions and subsystems for industrial automation products.
  • Develop firmware using modern engineering practices and coding standards, including architecture, design reviews, and technical discussions.
  • Develop unit tests, integration tests, and system verification activities.
  • Investigate and resolve firmware defects, customer-reported issues, and field anomalies.
  • Create quality through requirements traceability, design validation, and continuous improvement programs.
  • Collaborate with hardware, systems, quality, cybersecurity, and product-management teams throughout the product lifecycle.
  • Support cybersecurity-by-design and secure firmware development activities.
  • Participate in Agile development processes, including sprint planning, reviews, retrospectives, and CI/CD activities.
  • Mentor junior engineers and provide technical leadership on projects in a globally distributed team.
  • Help establish firmware best practices, development processes, coding guidelines, and firmware quality programs.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, quality standards, regulatory requirements, and engineering processes.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Electrical Engineering with a firmware concentration, or equivalent experience.
  • At least two years of experience in embedded-system firmware development, including analysis, design, programming, testing of real-time firmware systems, and device-driver development.
  • Experience with C/C++ or another middle- to high-level language, Python, and scripting languages.
  • Experience with Green Hills Integrity OS and Multi IDE, TCP/IP networking, Git or similar version-control tools, CI/CD pipelines, and collaboration tools such as Jira and Jama.
  • Familiarity with Python, Agile processes such as Scrum and SAFe, and CIP and CIP Security protocols.
  • Experience with real-time operating systems; familiarity with FreeRTOS or Zephyr is preferred.
  • Experience specifying and developing high-quality, maintainable firmware subsystems or systems at a high rate of productivity.
  • Ability to organize and direct activities of other employees and communicate with globally distributed teams.
  • A master’s degree in Computer Science or Computer Engineering, or equivalent in-depth knowledge and experience, is preferred.
  • Candidates with more than five years of embedded-system firmware and device-driver experience may be offered a Senior Engineer position.
  • Ability to collaborate in a matrixed organization and demonstrate a customer-centric culture.
