Responsibilities
- Set quality standards, review practices, release-confidence criteria, coverage expectations, and escaped-defect targets across teams.
- Mentor engineers and raise quality engineering practices across the organization.
- Define test data and environment strategies that keep clearing scenarios reproducible as the platform grows.
- Design and build automated test frameworks across UI, API, and integration layers.
- Validate end-to-end clearing workflows including trade processing, margin, settlement, and reconciliation.
- Verify data accuracy and consistency across distributed systems.
- Embed automated testing into delivery pipelines so failures surface early.
- Own test coverage as a measurable outcome and drive escaped defects down over time.
- Partner with engineering teams to define testable solutions before implementation and document test strategy decisions.
- Execute performance, resiliency, failover, business continuity, and disaster recovery testing.
Requirements
- 7+ years of quality assurance experience with a strong automation focus.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
- Proven leadership and mentorship of junior engineers.
- Experience driving QA across the full application lifecycle, including test strategies, plans, cases, smoke, regression, functional, and integration testing.
- Understanding of relational databases and ability to write queries to validate data across systems.
- Strong grounding in object-oriented and functional programming, software engineering principles, design patterns, and data modeling.
- Hands-on automated testing with Cucumber, Selenium, or Playwright.
- Strong command of Java and ability to architect, build, and extend test frameworks.
- REST API testing experience using RestAssured, Postman, or an equivalent.
- Preferred: AI-powered testing tools, FIX messaging, Kafka or another event-streaming platform, clearing or trading systems, and testing-team management or planning.
- Nice to have: Python, Docker or Podman, AWS or another cloud platform, scalable test data and environment management, and performance or resiliency testing.
