Responsibilities
- Develop, test, verify, document, and maintain TUFLOW software features, primarily involving GPU compute and AI applications.
- Implement and optimize CUDA C/C++ solvers, numerical kernels, algorithms, and performance improvements for hydraulic simulations.
- Work with and modernize the multi-language TUFLOW codebase, including existing and new software across Fortran, CUDA C++, Python, and Rust.
- Contribute to ML surrogate models, LLM-backed tooling, and other AI applications for users and internal teams.
- Plan and prioritize technical work, deliver agreed outcomes, and contribute to software quality, maintainability, development processes, and documentation.
- Collaborate with TUFLOW staff, hydraulic engineers, BMT specialists, users, and stakeholders on multidisciplinary development and research initiatives.
- Follow applicable quality, safety, environmental, information security, and software development procedures.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in software engineering, computer science, or another relevant discipline.
- 5+ years of software development experience.
- Demonstrated experience with software development practices and tools such as version control, code review, automated testing, and issue tracking.
- Demonstrated experience with C/C++ and CUDA development or other GPU compute platforms, with an affinity for NVIDIA and cross-platform development.
- Baseline proficiency with AI-assisted development, including routine use of coding assistants and critical review of generated output or agentic tooling in a production codebase.
- Desirable experience with AI/LLM tooling and architectures such as RAG and MCP.
- Desirable experience developing or integrating machine learning surrogate models.
- Experience in flood or coastal engineering or other numerical scientific modelling domains is desirable.
