Responsibilities
- Design and operate secure, observable, resilient Java and Spring Boot services and low-latency APIs for inventory availability and order promising.
- Implement concurrency-control, consistency, transactional integrity, and overselling-prevention patterns for distributed commerce systems.
- Build event-driven inventory processing using Kafka or similar messaging technologies.
- Integrate inventory and promising services with OMS, commerce, WMS, ERP, store, and fulfillment platforms.
- Own complex services or components from technical design through production operation.
- Write tested, maintainable code; participate in peer reviews; and maintain technical documentation.
- Improve performance, scalability, reliability, and operational efficiency through automation and proactive improvements.
- Monitor and troubleshoot production services, perform root-cause analysis, and contribute to reliability improvements.
- Lead component-level design, document trade-offs, and contribute to team architecture decisions.
- Mentor junior engineers, conduct code reviews, and help establish engineering standards and best practices.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, engineering, or a related field.
- 7+ years of software engineering experience building and operating scalable, high-availability, consumer-facing platforms.
- Strong hands-on experience with Java, Spring Boot, and modern microservices architectures.
- Strong understanding of design patterns, data structures, and algorithms with practical application experience.
- Hands-on experience with Kafka or similar event-streaming platforms and event-driven architectures.
- Deep understanding of caching strategies and hands-on experience with Redis or equivalent technologies.
- Strong understanding of concurrency, consistency, and transactional integrity patterns in distributed commerce environments.
- Experience designing resilient, high-volume systems with graceful degradation and fallback mechanisms.
- Strong experience with observability and operational excellence, including monitoring, distributed tracing, and alerting.
- Understanding of inventory management, order promising, and delivery estimation models is highly desirable.
- Experience configuring, customizing, and extending OMS platforms for complex omnichannel commerce use cases is preferred.
- Experience with Fluent Commerce or comparable OMS platforms such as IBM Sterling OMS, Manhattan Associates, Kibo, or Salesforce OMS is advantageous.
- Experience using coding agents, LLMs, or AI-assisted engineering tools to improve software delivery and developer productivity.
