Base Salary
$251k - $310k/yr
Responsibilities
- Build and operate reliable systems for autonomous vehicle operations, including depot logistics, automation flows, and critical vehicle state infrastructure.
- Manage end-to-end availability and performance for core fleet services and ensure sufficient usable vehicle supply to meet demand.
- Design and implement software, telemetry, deployment improvements, observability, and automation for mission-critical fleet services.
- Provide technical leadership, resolve complex reliability issues, manage technical debt, and establish architectural guidelines.
- Lead cross-functional and cross-organizational initiatives to integrate projects and processes into reusable components and services.
- Lead incident response, participate in a sustainable on-call rotation, and promote operational excellence and blameless retrospectives.
- Mentor engineers, develop leadership within the team, and support recruiting and team scaling.
Requirements
- 8+ years of experience architecting and maintaining mission-critical systems in C++, Java, or Python.
- Deep expertise in software reliability and resolving complex, high-impact system failures.
- Demonstrated experience leading the reliability program of a complex system such as an autonomous system, cloud infrastructure, or large-scale web service.
- Experience developing and communicating vision, strategy, and priorities across multiple organizations and stakeholders.
- Ability to influence key decision makers beyond the immediate area of responsibility.
- Experience leading cross-functional initiatives between Engineering and Dev.
- Experience developing team leadership through delegation, recruiting, and mentoring.
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field or 10+ years of similar experience in a high-growth environment with leadership experience.
- Preferred experience leading multiple large projects or mission-critical programs from concept to delivery.
- Preferred ability to translate business needs into site reliability initiatives and solve problems across functional groups.
- Preferred background managing technical debt and system evolution while balancing business velocity and reliability practices.
- Preferred experience leading cross-functional architectural investigations and resolving complex failures in distributed systems.
- Master’s or PhD in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field is preferred.
