$202k - $224k/yr
Responsibilities
- Design and build long-lasting backend and data engineering systems that reduce complexity and increase developer velocity.
- Solve high-impact, low-latency and high-correctness problems across large-scale marketplace systems.
- Identify architectural risks and opportunities and partner with leadership to address them.
- Lead the development and adoption of organization-wide engineering frameworks and coding practices.
- Drive engineering projects through inception, stakeholder engagement, implementation, and operations.
- Oversee incident management processes and direct on-call rotations according to global best practices.
- Collaborate with Product, Science, and Ops to translate ambiguous requirements into technical roadmaps.
- Mentor and guide engineers and represent the organization to internal and external technical communities.
Requirements
- At least 6 years of professional experience in backend software engineering, data engineering, or a related technical role.
- Expertise writing high-quality code for strategically important, cross-organizational problems.
- Advanced proficiency in SQL and data warehousing, including identifying and reconciling architectural gaps.
- Experience leading organization-wide engineering projects through their full lifecycle.
- Experience overseeing incident management and directing on-call rotations.
- Ability to make sound engineering and business tradeoffs with long-term implications in mind.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
- Preferred experience building high-performance distributed systems at a 100M+ user scale.
- Expertise with Flink, Spark, Apache Pinot, and Druid for real-time streaming and OLAP systems.
- Experience with Big Data and Hadoop ecosystem tools for complex data orchestration.
- Strong leadership and alignment-building skills across multiple job functions and technical communities.
