Responsibilities
- Design, implement, test, maintain, and support custom software based on technical specifications.
- Prepare technical design specifications and written knowledge-transfer materials.
- Review functional requirements, analysis, design documents, architecture, and code changes.
- Lead architecture, design, and implementation of robust, scalable web services and distributed systems.
- Improve system quality by identifying issues, developing standard operating procedures, and enhancing existing applications.
- Maintain existing codebases, conduct peer reviews, and investigate relevant new technologies.
- Collaborate with colleagues, product stakeholders, customer support, and cross-functional teams to deliver technical solutions.
- Provide technical leadership, mentor less experienced developers, and lead complex projects and modernization initiatives.
- Assist customer support with technical problems and questions.
Requirements
- At least 12 years of experience in Java Enterprise Edition and at least 15 years of Java full-stack development experience.
- At least 10 years of experience developing software for large business environments and mission-critical, low-latency solutions.
- At least 5 years of experience developing and debugging distributed systems and working with cloud-based big data systems.
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information systems, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience; a master’s degree is a plus.
- Strong object-oriented design and service-oriented architecture knowledge, preferably implemented in Java.
- Strong experience leading architecture, design, and implementation of robust, highly scalable web services.
- Experience with AWS and/or Azure SaaS infrastructure, DevOps technologies, and extensive debugging.
- Understanding of unit, test-driven, functional, and performance testing.
- React front-end development experience is preferred.
- Knowledge of SQL and NoSQL database systems and data architecture.
- Experience with event buses such as Pulsar and cloud-based big data solutions such as Snowflake is preferred.
- Experience with software security-enhancing tools and practices and at least one shell scripting language.
- Understanding of big data, machine learning, LLMs, automation, and engineering toolchains.
- Demonstrated ability to lead cloud, DevOps, or AI modernization initiatives and translate AI innovation into business and productivity impact.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, organizational, presentation, facilitation, decision-making, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
